This statue is to commemorate the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final held annually at Wembley Stadium. It depicts five famous rugby players holding up the Challenge Cup in victory. The statue stands outside the stadium at approximately 17 feet tall. The five players – Alex Murphy, Billy Boston, Eric Ahton, Martin Offiah & Gus Risman – were chosen by the public in a vote run by the RFL. We worked very closely with players / families to ensure we captured the likeness of the players.
Selected in open competition sculptors were asked to submit their ideas / designs and ours was the one chosen by the RFL.
